As you prepare for our time together this Sunday, 2 Peter 1:3-11. The Beatitudes in Matthew chapter 5 are very similar to Peters list of attributes that Christians should strive towards. Very often, we view these lists as only commands, and not as a process. However, the Beatitudes begin with “Blessed are the poor in spirit…” The poor are those who lack, who have not, who are in need, and to them is granted the Kingdom of heaven. Likewise, in 2 Peter, the apostle prefaces the passage by saying “His divine power has granted us all things that pertain to life and godliness…” Friends, this journey of sanctification is difficult, but we do not do this alone. Instead, we pursue knowledge of God and living on mission for Him through the power and work of God. Rely on him as you seek to obey him.
This Sunday, Drew will teach on the first 4 of the Beatitudes in Matthew 5. Come ready to be encouraged and challenged, by the work of God in blessing the saints!
