As you prepare for our time together this Sunday, 2 Peter 1:3-11. The Beatitudes in Matthew chapter 5 are very similar to Peters list of attributes that Christians should strive towards. Very often, we view these lists as only commands, and not as a process. However, the Beatitudes begin with “Blessed are the poor in spirit…” The poor are those who lack, who have not, who are in need, and to them is granted the Kingdom of heaven. Likewise, in 2 Peter, the apostle prefaces the passage by saying “His divine power has granted us all things that pertain to life and godliness…” Friends, this journey of sanctification is difficult, but we do not do this alone. Instead, we pursue knowledge of God and living on mission for Him through the power and work of God. Rely on him as you seek to obey him.

This Sunday, Drew will teach on the first 4 of the Beatitudes in Matthew 5. Come ready to be encouraged and challenged, by the work of God in blessing the saints!

As you prepare for our time together this Sunday, spend some time praying through 1 John 1:5-10. God is separate from sin and calls us to fellowship with him. That’s difficult! Through Christ, we have full access, but sin remains in our lives. This week, spend time working through sin that you may find in your daily life. What does it look like to let light shine in on those dark places and make them new again?

This Sunday, Matthew will teach about the calling of the disciples and the beginnings of Jesus public ministry. This is foundational for our lives and what do, because our lives should be marked by the same things that marked Jesus’ life. Let’s embrace this goodness together!

Sermon Text:Matthew 4:12-25

Songs for Corporate Worship:

Be Thou My Vision – Citizens & Saints*

His Mercy Is More – Matt Boswell, Matt Papa

And Can It Be – Aaron Keyes

Our God Is Strong – 10,000 Fathers, David Walker

Let Us Be Know By Our Love – 10,000 Fathers

As you prepare for our time together this Sunday, spend some time praying through John 15:1-11. Fruit and fruitfulness are major themes of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. It is significant that John the Baptist instructs the pharisees that he encounters in Matthew 3 to “bear fruit in keeping with repentance.” Often, as a Christian, I can become consumed with productivity. Am I doing enough? Am I pleasing to the Lord? However, fruit is only good if it is connected to a healthy vine or plant. As you prepare for Sunday morning, spend some time evaluating how much you abide in Christ. Are you abiding in Christ or is the fruit you are producing selfish, prideful and self-protecting? Between now and Sunday, walk through John 15, pray and renew your connection to Jesus. He’s ready to refresh you with the Holy Spirit.

This Sunday, Drew will expound upon John the Baptist’s role as forerunner of Christ and Jesus’ baptism by John. This text is full to the brim with themes of death, resurrection, fruitfulness, obedience and more. Gas up friends, because its going to be a trip worth taking!

Sermon Text: Matthew 3

Holy Holy Holy (God With Us) – Matt Maher

My Victory – Crowder

Christ Is Risen – Matt Maher

Crying Holy – Aaron Keyes

Look What God Has Done – Ghost Ship
